ウッドターニングという技法で生きている木と対峙する盛永さん。
ごつごつとした節、不思議な杢目、いつかの傷、
乾燥の過程で生まれたヒビさえも丁寧に掬い上げ、
その個性をひとつの芸術に昇華させる。美しく、力強く。
盛永さんの作品が生活に根付いて、当たり前に存在している暮らし。
なんだかとてもかっこいい。



Shoji Morinaga commands his woodturning method like a translation tool, carefully expressing the paths worn from the life of the wood. He lovingly elevates the wood’s unique charm into art, showcasing unusual wood grains, rugged knots, forgotten scars, even cracks emerged during the drying process.

Imagine how cool it would be to have his work in your house. It has the power enliven your everyday living space.

The exhibition starts on July 6th at our Kitasenju store. You are all welcome to explore Shoji Morinaga’s artistic forest.
